Can anyone tell me the density of MDF I have to work out the weight of a piece of furniture (thickness 20mm).
Also is MDF stronger than Plywood?

Plywood is stronger and more rigid than MDF, but the smooth parallel surfaces of MDF make it a better material for veneering and painting. It is also possible to profile the edges of MDF as they come whilst plywood generally needs to be lipped with hardwood before that can be done. Lastly, MDF is much cheaper than furniture-grade plywood.

As to weight, an 8 x 4 ft (2440 x 1220) sheet of 18mm standard MDF (20mm isn't made by everyone) will weigh 40 to 50kg depending on manufacturer - so it's heavy, but not unmanageable on your own. Pre-veneered MDF is 5 to 10kg heavier per sheet, and if you opt for for moisture resistant MDF (the green core stuff - denser so it will take a sharper profile) it will also weigh an extra 5kg or so per sheet
