Hi,

I've just paid £2100 plus vat to have a megaflow DD125HE unvented direct cylinder supplied and fitted. Capacity 125 litres.

It's an impressive piece of kit but that did seem expensive, especially as I am currently unemployed and had to pay from my meagre savings (my previous tank was old and rotten and likely to start leaking into the flat below any time, and I wanted to avoid the cost of an emergecy call out should that happen).

What makes me ask this question is that I note the trade price for this unit is approx. £550.

I live in the South East.

Have I paid a fair price or have I been ripped off?

Kind regards

John :?

As you have the cylinder, and have parted with the money, I would just be happy with it.
Impossible to say anyway, as no one can see from behind a keyboard what had to be done to install it

The cost is not related to your employment status!

I knew we were too cheap as we last charged only £460 plus the cost of the cylinder!

A 125 li indirect Megaflow is probably £550 PLUS vat ! Customers love to ignore that 15% addition when quoting back prices.

I would have suggested the cheaper Santon made by the same company.

Yes it's very expensive, for what good the information will do.

how long did it take for they plumbers to install the new cylinder? i take it was just a one day job cos any longer then they r not worth their salt. yeah diffinitly ripped off :(

quickly googled tank and can get one for £580 inc VAT, but as others have said no point moaning now!! the time to google and ask would have been before agreeing price, not sure of what is involved in swapping over but would have thought 2 guys for a full day plus fittings would be well under price quoted. oops

I have not compared the prices for a while now.

However, I view the seperate expansion vessel on the Santon as a definate advantage to improve reliability and thus customer satisfaction.
