To be honest, the pixolax was definitely the worst part but on the plus side

1) I was able to confirm to the world that, for once, I wasn't full of sh*t!
2) The weight loss was tremendous (and rapid)!
3) I'll have some idea of what that actually feels like to be genuinely scared sh*tless at least before it happens!

Death is just the universes way of telling you that you've been here long enough. Dignitas costs too much, so I'll treat myself to a bottle of 25 year old malt, and take some ground up malachite. Only another 12 years to go.

Glad to see how many OAPs are still active in plumbing.

I have been sent a couple of kits and number of phone calls, telling me how important it is to send those kits back, but I just can't bring myself to do it, just don't fancy the idea of someone peeking at my poo through a microscope!

I know the importance of it though, but there plenty of other reasons not to prolong your life, but would definitely hate to die from a falling roof.

As long as you die quickly without prolonged suffering. I'd hate to be bedridden and / or suffering from Altzheimers .

If you think a lab rat, a stranger who doesn't know who you are (or care) peeking through your poop is embarrassing or degrading, then you should see what the treatment of bowel cancer looks like when it's spread. Stitch in time Mike....

Why is it blokes on a whole are sloppy in going to the docs? I have this fight with my better half too - and his dad!

I last received proper medical treatment back in 1975 (appendectomy) and the internal examination (!) made me hit the roof.....
Eventually went to a 'well man' clinic a year or so ago - fully expecting not to be allowed to drive home. Happily, low blood pressure and next to no cholesterol which can only be attributed to an excess of red wine
An answer to your question? Bloody fear!!

Blightymam......I'm sure I echo our commiserations and condolences on the death of your mum.

John :)

It's because we think we're the stronger sex! Having said that , I'm glad it's women who have babies.

I normally hear all sorts of reasons, not wanting to waste docs time, it'll get better on it's own etc. Nice to hear a more understandable answer!!
And good on you for going to the well man clinic and glad everything is fine. Can you have a word with my better half please? He won't go and I have given up nagging. :)

The good and proper thing about the well man clinic was the fact they took a blood sample, but I would have been happier - if that's the correct phrase - if they had taken a urine sample too......maybe that wasn't necessary of course, but with diabetes being the disease of the day etc I thought that would have been appropriate.
The bad thing about the clinic was the barrage of lifestyle questions - about which I could have lied. I am a bit overweight but I wasn't subjected to the body mass index lecture I was expecting.
Anyway, when the results came through a week later, I was walking on air!
John :)

why only/available until a certain age before getting tests when you can get that horrible disease when younger , even thou its more common after that age

Like what happened to Lewis's car today, one minute he was plodding on to win, next minute his ass was on fire, and he had to resign from the race, I guess its same for men, one minute it is all hunky dory, and the next its Oh my god, whats that!
