merc oil pressure problems

Hi all i was wondering if anyone can help! I have a 94 merc 308d 2300cc the 4 cyl model. My oil pressure light came on so i took it off the road gave it an oil and filter change and fitted a new pressure switch. The light still comes on, it flickers on idle but if you rev it it stays bright. so i'm thinking maybe the oil pump has worn out? can anyone tell me where its located, does it bolt onto the filter housing where the oil cooler pipes go or will i have to take the sump off? any advice greatly appreciated[/

could be the big ends worn as well. combination of the two will produce the symptoms. oil pumps are usually in the sump. whilst your at it you could fit a new set of shells only (cheap 'n' cheerful fix) to see you through a few more miles.

make sure the oil strainer in the sump isn't full of sh1t too
