Ignore me - I thought the whole thread had gone - it had just had all the recent posts removed, including some pretty non-contentious ones, so it had dropped back a large number of pages. None of the email links worked (because the posts were gone) and I didn't go back far enough to look for it... 
Add 'site:diynot.com' to the end of your search string (or if you have the Google toolbar, click the "Change search type" twistie and select "Current Site").
Then in the results, click on the 'cached' links, not the main ones....
