I am building a stairway identical to this. I am OK with the steel frame and the wood but need a hand with the steel balustrade.

I can order the parts OK but what trade should I advertise for to put it up and what is it worth ? Bit too precise for me. Thanks

A metalworker :!: On metal balustrades to balconies ,purpose made steel spiral stairs and balustrades I have worked on a local firm called *** ***** Fabrications did this sort of thing ,or another local steelwork supplier who also did metal work was used. They supplied and fitted the components on site. Or there are firms who specialise in staircase balustrades.

Very good ! The metalworkers I know will not fit other peoples work They make metal constructions like the stairs Like I am a painter. I paint. I do not make paint. They do not fiddle around with fitting wires and balustrades.

Sorry, I was talking about balustrades to balconies to like 172 flats , not fiddling around with fitting wires and posts to a piddling little staircase.
Maybe a local handyman would be your best bet :!:
ps the balustrade in the picture looks like steel rods rather than wires.
pps if you are a painter what are you doing fiddling around with the steel frame and wood :?:

I am running the job. They come as a kit from S3i. You just measure up, pay and fit yourself. It is stainless steel rope and the whole lot is about £1,000. Thats probably why I want someone else to do it ! I have enough with the treads which are untreated planks of Olive wood which I have to prepare and oil as well as the floors and paint the walls etc. https://www.s3i.co.uk/balustradeB4.php

OK , fair enough. Maybe a joiner could screw the post baseplates to the treads and fix the timber handrails to the posts.
