Hello, I'm just curious about a strip of metal cover that I got from a shed.
Its to go over chased in cables before I plaster & I'm wondering should I fix it somehow? if so how?

Cheers.

Is it steel capping?

What material are you fixing to?

Does it matter if you use PVC capping behind the plasterboard?
Thats what i've been using so far.

I got some hard capping nails from screwfix, they're basically a sharp, hardened nail with a washer on to retain the capping, seem to work ok, but won't go into brick, so i've just put them into the mortar instead.

Nothing at all wrong with using pvc capping. That's what I use all the time.

pvc cappling is easier to work with imo.
oval is even easier than that ;)

Yes it is the horribly sharp metal one shown in the picture.

I thought as much, nails.

I'll see what I can find, I have some plasterboard nails somewhere that I can use (I only have 1 bit to do).

Cheers.

P.S. whats the point of it?
I thought it was to stop people putting pins/drills etc through into the cable.
If thats the case the plastic stuff wont stop that?
