Hi I've had a new bathroom fitted and the concealed mixer. Sadly it's not been recessed enough. About 1.5cm and 2 cm. IM thinking of tiling behind it so tile on tile followed by silcone.

An alternative I've considered is taking the plate to someone to fabricate a new one with sides on ie box. It would need to be chrome finish.

The third most unlikely option is to shorten the unit. Not even sure this is possible. View media item 48850

No chrome :x - just get it made in polished stainless steel  - much more do - able than chromed

PC - consider getting your local stone mason (Yellow Pages ... the guy that makes gravestones - every town has one) to fashion a frontplate from a piece of 1.5 to 2 thick granite (white to match those tiles or a contrasting colour to make a feature). A decent mason could even adapt this front plate to incorporate a small shelf for shampoo & bottles of other shower juices.

I think slapping layers of tile on would look like a botch and a fabricated stainless or chrome box, unless beautifully made, would look naff. However, a decent bit of stone, maybe with a radiused edge, would IMO look 'planned'.

Why not get the people who fitted it to come back and do it properly.

many thanks for the replies. My dad would not be happy if he had to come back :)

I think suggestion one is good and I didn't even think of a graveyard :) For a temp measure I will get him to lay tiles behind and silcone for sealing. Then get a new plate made up. Such a shame as he did a cracking job!
