Hi

I am in the process of a flat conversion, the new meters will be installed on ground level and there will be a consumer unit in each flat (3 stories).
My question is what size is acceptable for the meter tails?
Will 16mm T&E be ok?
Are there any other things I should be aware of with such long meter tails (10m longest)?

Thanks in advance for your help :D

The cable size will depend on the fuse rating. You will also need to check with your DNO regarding the maximum length of meter tails that they will allow their service fuse to protect.

You will probably need separate switch fuses for each flat. I would not use 16mm² t&e. 25mm² split concentric or SWA would be a far better solution.

I'm sure that you are aware that the work you are doing is notifiable unless carried out by a qualified electrician who is a member of a self certification scheme?
