Metrotile or not?

Hi all,

I would like to know if anyone has used the metrotile for low pitch roof instead of slate?

My roof on the extension at the rear of my house was slate, but i put french doors in and had to raise the roof so the fall was around 18 degrees. Now i cant use slate and wondered if i could go down the metrotile route,
would i have to clear this with my local council or can i go ahead and do the roof with this stlye which looks simalar to slate.
