I've been quoted £880+VAT for a pine ballustrade across a Mezzanine, more than I was hoping to spend but would appreciate further opinion on the cost.

It's 3m of bannister with half newels at either wall, there are also two full newels to provide an opening for access. The quote also states 30 square spindles!

Help appreciated.

Does the price include works and materials to adequately support the two newels? As to the spindles the legal maximum opening between them is 100mm, so you are probably going to need more than 20 spindles on a 3000mm gap in any case

Thanks for the reply! The quote has 30 spindles so that will be fine.

The joiner did speak about how he would need access below the mezzanine floor to support the newels so the quoted price must include that too. I guess that makes it more reasonable!
