Hi everybody, my Miele G676 is being temperamental ! when i try to run it the indicator lights flash on the front panel. it had been doing this on and off for a few months but now wont run on anything but pre wash.

I've tried cleaning the filter inside the cabinet. ive checked the drain pump is free, the drain line is clear, the water supply is ok, the main pump impeller is free. Pressure switch functionality. and i've sent the board away for a no fault found (albeit incomplete) test.

Any ideas ????? i've read a lot of the posts and i'll check the main motor brushes next.. after that i'm almost out of ideas....

great thanks ! the flashing lights are;

WASH/RINSE
DRYING
END

the on light remains steady. the others flash simultaneously once per sec and continuously....

Lean the dishwasher forward to see if any water runs off the baseplate (have some old towels ready just in case).
Forget about checking the brushes...dishwashers don't have them.

Thanks Zipper,
i can tell you each time that i have laid the m/c down to work on it water HAS come out, (approx 2 pints ish) i had assumed this was from the separator arrangement in the m/c sidewall. the float switch seemed dry so i wasn't concerned. i'll look more carefully and get back to you.

Ok I emptied the cabinet before I tipped it over.....NO water came out...
When i try to run the machine, its completely silent on all but prewash. :?

ok tried a couple more things. ran prewash with the water feed disconnected. solenoids seem to work ok, and i can just about blow through the water feed pipe when the valves are open. drain pump runs fine. small amount of discolouration on base plate from a drain tube that empties onto it. but otherwise quite dry.

Any ideas anyone... i'm pretty close to giving up now and ditching the m/c... :|

The LED status you describe doesn't sound like a valid error code.
Where did you send the pcb to get tested & why do you describe the results as "albeit incomplete"?
You mention checking a pressure switch in your first post. This machine has two pressure switches. One monitors level & the other is an additional safety device in the heater circuit. If the DW fills & rinses fine but then fails on a wash/heat cycle the pressure switch itself may not be switching, or the circulation motor may not be delivering enough pressure to activate it.

Thanks Zipper. i sent the pcb to QER ltd http://www.qer.biz/servReps.htm
i receved a note on return saying "sorry unable to repair, No fault found. No full test, hence my comment about incomplete...

Your comment about the pressure switch is interesting, but I am bothered by the fact that the m/c is utterly silent when any wash prog attempted !!!

Can you suggest a way of resetting the fault ? have tried on/off and top solo held together for 5 secs...but that may just reset the tolerance for inlet water pressure, as per the user guide.

when i took out the motor this am there were four terminals in the connector block. any idea what resistance is should be getting between the spades ? nos 2 and 3 are linked via a short loop.

ps my wife said she got it to run by filling it with hot water and then selecting a program. this worked initially but then stopped doind so, and then she wwould try another prog until all were dead.....

To be honest it sounds more & more like a pcb problem. Miele electronics are normally very robust, but they go go wrong on occasions. My guess is that this machine was produced in the late 90's, does that sound about right? When you select a wash cycle do you initially hear the drain pump running or is it just total silence?

yes we inherited it with the house, i guess its about 15 yrs old. its total silence on all but PRE-WASH....when you do hear the drain pump...

It has done its job extremely well...but perhaps it is time to put the old dog down now & invest in a new one.

yes i think so..., time for a look at Which?.
thanks for all your help.....
