Hi Guys,

I'm planning to add a fuse connection unit (this will be connected with an external power outlet) in my living room. But I'm unsure about the cable distance from the floor? Are there any requirements about the minimum distance? Or could I runs the cable with oval conduit just below plaster level so the cable will be fixed behind a skirting board?

Thanks for any comments!

Not sure what you mean.

You can't run a cable horizontally behind a skirting board, if that's what you mean. Tho you could if you used earthed metal conduit, or MI cable.

My conduit is pvc one, and wanted to run cable vertically, then horizontally just under plaster level and was wondering wouldn't it be to low. Now you say I can't do that unless I use metal conduit. So the PVC conduit has to be covered under plaster but not high skirting board, is that right?

Basically you have safe zones, you can bury cables run horizontal at any height or vertical, but only between two accesories, ie switches or sockets.
plastic conduit does not change the fact and you dont even have to use it
