Hi

I am trying to get the Mira 88 shower(ingressed) valve cap off so i can service it. However its been impossible to get it off. I have tried hot water, wiggle but no joy. Have also seen shower doctor video (its for external version).

i have added full valve photo as well for reference

Any other tips to get it off? Thanks a mill

Remove screw in the middle then pull control knob off.

Only really only one way to get that off - some penetrating oil in the centre, leave it for 30 odd mins then, tap it 'on' with a hammer to break the jam @ the spline and then 2 plain screwdrivers, one either side and tease/lever it gently off - It'll either go slowly or it will break - there's no other way to do it unfortunately.

It's called shocking it.

You need some twine or something to drop behind to pull control knob off.
While pulling smack that metal cente spine with a hammer.
Not too hard but not too gentle. Although I'd go easy at first to see if it moves.
The shock will break seal (stick) with any luck..

Well for anyone who has similar issues

1) Sprayed wd40 on the spindle
2) Poured hot boiling kettle after 15 mins and tapped using hammer while doing it !
3) Voila it came off

now to get the brass unit out(after closing the supplies )

Where there is a Mira there is a way

Only challenge was getting brass cover off and removing copper inner spacers from it

as good as new ! Does anyone know best way to seal the wall and put some protection so if it leaks in future leak stays in the shower
