Hi Guys,

Mira atom shower we have seems to have issues, flow valve im guessing as its stiff to turn on, almost impossible at times.

I've tried to remove the old one (after taking the control knob and plastic cover off) using a 17mm spanner it just turns (quite tightly) and doesnt appear to unscrew. is there a housing inside that this screws into that has perhaps come loose?

Yep it's a bar, it's on the left side , flow one, the temp one is on the right hand end

I know this isnt what you want to hear...

I had a similar issue with the same shower about a year ago - couldnt get the valve out for love nor money. Called them up to see what i was missing and ended up taking the thing off and replacing it after an hour or so of faffing.

Dont know how long you have had the shower - but i seem to remember them offering a 5 year warranty.

Good luck.

So...

Took it off the wall so I could have a proper look. The temp end comes out ok, but looking at how it's fitted it has a brass insert that's screwed into the body and the thread inside that which the therm asjuster screws into is press fitted into it, if it's the same the other end I'm guessing the threaded insert is turning in the brass insert. Bit of a crap design, not much I can do I guess!

Worked the control knob with some mole grips for a few minutes and it's a bit easier to turn now, will eventually have to replace the whole thing I guess.

It's been just about 5 years and a month since buying it at a guess lol

Still cheaper to buy a whole new one than replacing cartridges in most of the concealed valves... and even cheaper still than having to break tiles out to replace a concealed valve!
