Hi

I'm so peed off! I've spent the best part of today installing my new Mira Magna pumped shower into a cramped loft space. Plumbed, flushed, Wired in with both cables going to a junction box as descibed then connected to a 3amp fuse box in the loft and then to be safe. another 3amp fused spur switch in the airing cupboard. I got the shower on the wall and it looked great and I'm looking forward to getting it going now. Got all the water and electrics back on, flicked the spur fused switch and hear a short rumble in the loft ( I guess this is the pump clicking on a getting ready). Then go to turn the shower on......NOTHING! No lights no sign of life at all. I have checked all my electrical connections and the low voltage control connectors but cannot see anything obvious. Neither of the fuses are blown as I hear that short rumble every time I turn the fused switch on. I just don't have clue now....Has anyone experienced this with the Mira Magna? Am I just missing something simple?
Any correspondence gratefully received....Thanks!

Is there any power getting to the shower? Take the case off and check the terminals with a multimeter

Thanks Muggles

I think I'd better call Mira. I'm OK with plugs and sockets and stuff but a little out of my depth taking the equipment apart. Is this pobable though? Do Mira not test all their products before being shipped? Thanks for your reply!

There is no discrimination here. What if the fuse in the loft goes instead of the one in the airing cupboard?

Better off with a DP switch in the loft & a 3A fused spur where it is accessible.

As for the thing not working, have a look at the troubleshooting guide in the installation instructions. Failing that, ring the Mira helpline.

THanks for the advice.
When you say to have the DP switch in the loft and the spur in the cupboard. Do you mean use a switch without a fuse in and have a fused spur or should I just have the fused switch which is currently in the cupboard?

Either. But make sure that both are accessible. It would probably make more sense though just using a 13A FCU (containing a 3A fuse) in the airing cupboard, assuming it is accessible at this location.

Silly hat on

Did you turn the water back on ? Most pumps will allow flow when they have no power, so if the pumps making noise and there's no water you may have A) not turned the water on B) plumbed the outs on the in and the in on the out or C) have the pump above the tanks, which unless it's designed to have negative pressure won't be able to pull the water and pump it to the shower head.

This is a bit different to a shower pump. Only has one outlet but |I've gone over the whole system today and I'm confident everything is in the right place. Also re-done all electrical connections. I've got Mira coming out tomorrow. I think it's going to be a problem with the user inerface. I'll keep you updated....Thanks for all your help.

Hi guys

Just thought I'd let you know, Mira have been out and after lot's of poking around it turned out that an incorrect data cable had been supplied and packaged with the shower. Difficult to detect as the male clicked into the female connection OK but the replacement male was longer by about 2mm. Only a 5 minute job to replace and all sorted now.
Shower is fantastic, quiet and very powerful. Looks good too. Apart from the niggle with the data cable, I'm very happy with the product and to be fair to Mira, The service engineer called back the same day as the problem was reported and visited the next day. Also when the fault was found I thought it was going to be a case of having to wait while a spare part was ordered but he seemed to have an abundunce of spare parts in the van which I thought was quite impressive considering the amount of products Mira have in their portfolio.
