Hi guys

Thanks for the advice on my previous thread regarding the install of my Mira Magna dgital shower. I've just seen on the instruction manual a tiny diagram with earthing symbols on the inlet pipes and outlet pipes running from the unit. I have not done this. I did notice that the PCU flex only had live and nuetral wiring. (The pump cable had and earth wire also). Could this possibly be the reason why I'm getting nothing from the control panel?
If you think it is could you advise a good earthing point in a loft or/as I have used JG Speedfit for the pipe supply should I abridge this connection to the next available copper?

Thanks!

This could be in relation to the MI making reference to supplementary bonding being required. For more info have a look here.

I think that is unlikely. Have you checked all youir wiring and and also that the fuse has not blown?

Is the pump double insulated? If so then it should not be earthed anyway.

Best bet is have a look at the MI or call the helpline - can you post a link to the shower on here?

P.S - you could have just typed this on the end of your last post ;)

Hi
Thanks for the advice
Please see the attached link to the install manual. http://www.mirashowers.co.uk/onlinecatalog/pdf/p4581_1.pdf

I have checked everything now and I have done it all by the book. Spoken to Mira and they are going to get an engineer to get in touch.
I am goiung to try placing the Ferrite closer to the controls like it say's but can't really see this as being the issue. Fuses are OK by the way.....

I have an Aqualisa digital shower which is similar it also has an integral pump but uses a single power supply flex rather than the separate supplies for the processor and pump.

What sort of JB did you use? Have you combined solid core cable and multi strand flex in one terminal? Use an MK one with discrete connections for each core rather than one with just 3 terminal posts.

If all of your connections in the junction box and SFU are good and you have power as far as the junction box then it is probably not the power connections.

The earth symbols are for supplementary bonding as already stated, if your supply pipework is plastic then they don't need bonding but if the outlet is in copper it does. This is a safety feature but won't be causing the non operation of the unit.

It sounds like the processor is powering up. The rumble is the unit initialising.

If you have no lights etc on the control unit it is possibly a problem in the ELV connections, (I had a similar scenario on my install and identified one of the ELV plugs was not quite seated in the control unit on the shower).

Alternatively it could be a plumbing problem, if the water supply is not present, the hot temperature too high or the orientation of the processor incorrect the fault condition will cause the processor to turn off and the lights to go off almost immediately after coming on.

Thanks Bloxy. Good advice about the J box but I'm confident all my connections are good. There is water in the system as I completed flush before connecting up the pipes. The copper outlet pipe has now been bonded but still the same issues I've been over every connection again tonoght with a fine tooth comb but to no avail I'm afraid. The Mira man is coming tomorrow so I'll keep you posted for anyone interested.
