Mitre saw spindle repair

Does anyone repair power tools and have some advice?

My old mitre saw spins the motor but not the blade. When I have stripped it down, the issue is in this part:

The gear spins freely from the spindle. I'm guessing there is a key or something that has sheered.

I have removed a circlip and washer from the spindle with the hope the gear can be removed, but it doesn't budge.

I'm thinking I have stripped it down to the smallest serviceable component and it is new mitre saw time. This is a 20 year old cheap saw, but if it can be fixed, I'd rather give that a go first.

So parts unlikely - unless its a clone
that small square on the cog - can you see if it lines up - maybe its a parallel key - And i guess would need a press or bearing puller to get it apart

If you cant get the bit - make and model of the SMS - then i guess labour to fix would be more than the cost to replace - unless a local garage can help take apart - but then you need the keys (maybe just a bit of 3mm ish retangle metal

Because the gear is a tight press-fit, you need to slide it off the spindle shaft to access the keyway pocket underneath.

• Use a small bearing puller or a workshop press.
• Alternatively, support the underside of the gear on a sturdy vice (leaving room for the shaft to drop through) and gently tap the top of the spindle shaft downward with a brass drift punch and a hammer.
