What's the general opinion on them?

I've seen one with 59k on the clock.

The GDI is a much better car than the clunker diesel - as I've worked on the grand total of one each
Well equipped car generally considering they had a short UK run - the diesel I worked on was a noisy, smoky thing but there again most diesels of that era were....it certainly wasn't quick but I've no idea how much BHP they had, either.
Servicing is completely straight forward, but that's all I know about them.....very similar vehicle to Nissan's Primera which again didn't set the world alight.
John :)

I have a Volvo v40 gdi which has the same engine

It is designed for motorway runs and uses high octane fuel - otherwise it cokes up badly
If you se it for a runabout then you MUST take it for a thrash in a low gear once a week to blow the crap out

Many thanks John.

I think I'll stick with my Bora TDI.

A Mitsubishi Carisma TD is for sale locally and sparked my interest but all things considered, the Bora I have runs well and parts are easy to get.

They were cheap when new and would need to be seriously cheap now. Fairly well equipped for the price though. Isn't it the same body shape as the Evo ?

It's the type of car that goes on for ever.....
Bit like a Proton Persona!
