We recently had some pipes moved and during the process the plumber said we should have our cold water from the mains and not the tank. So he changed our pipes to do this . BUT we have 3 mixer showers and now we cant get hot water from them. Mira support have told us there isn't a mixer shower that will work from tanked hot water and mains cold water. HELP. Should we get the plumber back to reverse what he did and why would he have done this?

just as guess i think you have tank fed open vent hot water cylinder and nows a mains cold feed on the mixer.
may need a Pressure reducing valve on the cold feed and a single check valve on the hot feed to the mixers.
Also could think of getting a combi?? or a unvented hot water cylinder.

If you have a gravity fed system then idealy the bathroom sink tap should be on the mains water as then you have clean water which is not from a storage tank The other taps (Bath hot and cold, bathroom sink hot and kitchen sink hot) should run from the gravity system tanks.

Thank you so much, that makes sense . The plumber should be returning tonight so I will ask him to do this , ie put the cold pipes to the showers back to the cold water tank.
Fingers crossed.
