The tap in my bathroom, has a push rod at the back of the tap that either lifts, or lowers the plug in the sink. This now is broken, is this an easy fix so I need a new ta

Has it simply come unscrewed or similar? I'd be surprised if something had actually 'broken'. There's no force or pressure applied to these normally.

Not sure, the little piece of metal that lifts the plug moves but not enough, I so these online but not sure if it would fit.

Take a pic of your tap; do a google image search for it, or one similar; search for a spec / diagram pic of what it looks like inside and go from there to determine where the failure could be. I wouldn't go buying things willy-nilly.
It may be that the plug-hole is simply blocked with hair and getting stuck?

The plug hole isn't blocked, the rod is either getting stuck, or something has broken of the end of it, will look at it over the weekend.

The pivot point ( nylon ball) can become jammed , screw on cap, releases it for cleaning .
They are not designed to be pulled , which is why they often fail. The plug should be pushed down to seal sink and the arm pushed down to pop the plug open , these actions are limited in travel unlike pulling the arm which puts strain on the lever joint.
