Hi all
Iv'e got a problem with my bath shower mixer tap.
It wont let cold water through, Iv'e removed the cap and brass centre and the bottom part of it has snaped of.
The problem I have is that I cant get the bottom bit (which holds washer ) or it may be a dome washer I dont know because it seems to be larger than the hole the brass screws into which is only 1/2" not 3/4".
Is this a tap that can't be fixed or do I have to remove the whole tape set from the bath which is proving a problem on a already fragile bath.

Thanks any help
Paul

If cold water isn't passing then I deduce that the problem is with the cold valve, and that the jumper has come apart from the valve body.

I expect there will be a way to remove the jumper, and once removed an entire new valve body could be fitted to cure the original problem.

Since you seem to be having trouble, could you post a photo showing the state of the tap at the moment?

Thanks for the reply softus
I dont know how to post photos, but I can confirm that I have removed the valve body and the jumper has snapped of but the dia of the jumper is larger than that of the hole the valve came out of so it moves around but is to large to come out the top hole. I guess that I have to remove the mixer tap body and remove it from underneath????

Thanks again

Paul

Unlikely - I've only ever seen one tap that did that (and I suspect it came apart because of manufacturing fault).

If there's no way to get the jumper out then I don't understand how it was inserted in the first place. Your options are to (a) replace the tap, or (b) get medieval - use a power drill to break up the jumper.
