Hello folks,

Unfortunately I'm currently living in a modern house (c20 years). This entails trying to hang pictures on those walls which sound like hollow wood when you tap them, and thin wood at that.

Can someone please tell me what is the most secure way to hang heavy-ish frames on them?

Thanks.

M

Note to self. Never buy another modern house!

If they are Paramount walling then you have my sympathies.

There will be an upright 40mmx 40mm rail every 1.2m. That's about it in terms of anything solid. You may want to consider a rail for or batten for the pictures fixed to the uprights, if you can find them. You could supplement the rail fixing with some cartridge type adhesive.

The load is vertical, and plasterboard will support a lot of load from a fixing. I've used normal brown plugs in a correct size hole for a good fit with no play in the plug.

But toggles or those metal threaded plugs that screw in will be fine.
