What is the current standard with the amount of glazed area on a modern pvcu profile?

Are all modern frames so thick and chunky that the amount of glazed area is reduced? Are there any profiles that offer a larger glazed area than others? What is this ratio [of glazed area to profile] referred to as?

It seems that older profiles had a much larger glazed area in relation to the thickness of the frame. Is this true? Is there any variation in modern profiles on this particular issue?

Do flush windows mean a much bigger reduction in available glazed area?

As a side question, are flush windows considered less weather tight than those with a rebate?

hi,

glazed area for windows is currently about 70-80% (see EN ISO 10077-1, Annex F).

flush windows are more exposed to the weather and may have cold wall behind
