Hello,

I’d like to improve the efficiency of our combi set up and I’m interested in your thoughts on my idea please.

We have a Glow-worm Ultimate3 30C with a Honeywell T4 programmer.

I’m leaning to replace the programmer with a Glow-worm Climapro1 and add their wired outdoor sensor.

My thoughts are that adding both the modulation and weather compensation controls could be quite an improvement for room temperature stability and running costs compared to the current on/off Honeywell.

In practice would this be a good move or what would you suggest instead?

Many thanks,

Mark

Ebus controls (specific to Vaillant and GlowWorm) will work better than standard on/off so yes by all means upgrade.

Yes, a good move from both an economy and comfort point of view. Rather than the system running flat out, until the stat clicks off, and then the house over-heats - the system knows the actual room temperature, your desired temperature, works out and produces just the right amount of heat, making full use of the boiler's ability to modulate. As the heat in the pipework, is much less vicious, there is less creaking and groaning, as the temperature changes. The result, is a very steady house temperature, lower boiler operating temperature, more operation within the condensing range.
