Just about to construct my roof for my garage (3.8m x 6m length) and i have the following queries;

1. i was going to use 6x2 purlins @ lengths of 3.8m (so running the width) at 1m centres (1m wide roof sheets), is this ok or should i reduce the centres? any advice would be great.

I will be sitting my purlins onto a 4x2 wall plate.

What you are laying are rafters not purlins. 6x2 is a common size and often adequete but an important consideration is the pitch? Also is it coming off a gable wall?

1m centres is too meagre regardless of sheet size, you need to consider the weight of snow loading etc.

I am coming of my wall plate, So i was goin to upgrade to 9x4 timbers. with a minimum gap/spacing of 900mm?

8x2's with back to back furring strips @ 600mm centres.
