Hi,
I have a strange problem with my boiler pressure i wonder if you can advise on,
Boiler is 8 years old and was installed without a overflow pipe which i have resolved.
Pressure always stayed stable just over 1 Bar, have noticed level has dropped and i get drips from the over flow.
I don't understand if the system has no visible leaks but the pressure is below 1 Bar, why is water coming out the over flow ?
There must be a component inside the boiler that has gone faulty. Not being a plumber i don't know.
Due to the age should i bite the bullet and replace it or pay for an engineer to diagnose the issue.

I hate plumbing as i tend to get very wet, I'm out of my comfort zone on this one.

Any advise would be appreciated.

I mean no disrespect to the knowledgeable but i have had bad experiences in the past with poor builders etc. ripping me off.
I have edited the original post as i didn't mean to offend.

Thanks for your replies

What does a builder know about boilers.
If the builder was paying good Menes to a plumber, the job might be half decent but unlikely the plumber will be interested in aftercare.

What is needed is a heating engineer who can instal boilers and repair them as well.

Being the later type, I would swerve that boiler other than what the present issue is.

What exactly are you calling the overflow? I’ve had 2 different answers from my customers.

water Is being released through the prv to the outside. Currently pressure sat at .5 bar with no water loss but I’m sure if I top it up via filling loop I will start the dripping again. Looked on YouTube and although it seems a bit fiddly replacing prv and expansion tank+ represurising it, I don’t have the tools and small hands to diy.
Thanks for the replies and sincerely apologies for the opening comment.
I will seek a GSR geezer to repair with a view to replace the boiler in the new year.

I bow to your replies.

Slight update,
For an engineer one off £325 will cover all parts except Exchanger and expansion tank, £99 for failed visit due to accessibility issues or
£342 over 6 months for all parts and labour.
One plumber went very quiet when i mentioned the make and said he's off on holiday and call someone else, another made me chuckle cause on the phone he said £100 for first hour labour plus parts then text me to say £120 plus parts.... when i text him back to say no thanks he replied "If that's too steep make me an offer"

Going in balz deep and getting a new one, checked the site for a recommended boiler and it has been removed.

Will look at Boxt and BG for comparisons.

Just say where in the country you are and someone frome here might be able to recommend someone that cocvers your area, it is not as big a deal as you are making out to be honest
