More Brits believe Earth is flat than think Brexit is going very well, poll shows

Although possibly less likely in the near/medium future due to recent revelations, this is what fills me with dread should Scotland become independent. Because it always hovers around 50/50 in terms of polling, there would surely be similar cyclical debates for years to come around whether or not it was a good move for Scotland. Pro independence people will no doubt largely stick with 'yes, anti independence people 'no.' And of course, perhaps similar to brexit, politicians always have an out by saying change of this magnitude takes decades to bed in.

It would be interesting to see the results of a mock vote after a decade re should the UK rejoin the EU.

"U-turn on UK government plan to scrap or revise all EU law"

" Kemi Badenoch, business secretary, told Tory Brexiters this week that the majority of almost 4,000 pieces of retained EU law would remain on the statute book, with perhaps 800 being removed by the end of the year.

Badenoch’s allies did not deny on Thursday that the government was preparing to ditch a December 31 2023 “sunset clause” under which EU laws would automatically expire if they had not been revised or retained.

The year-end deadline has alarmed business groups and trade unions, who have warned it could lead to huge uncertainty and the possible loss of key protections.

In angry exchanges on Monday, Badenoch told Tory MPs that plans to improve old EU laws could not be rushed."

From the comments section:

"The UK proposed or voted in favour of 97% of EU laws.

So this was either one of two things:
1) A religious fundamentalist level of stupidity that dictated anything with the name EU has to be purged (even though that “evil” EU used to be ….us).
2) A reprehensible “libertarian” attempt at subverting democracy. Delete much of previous UK law such as worker and environmental protections in stealth without parliament voting against it to serve rich donors and corporations.

I’ll let you decide which was true.

Either way, I cannot believe that these people were let anywhere near power. Those môrons and disaster capitalists need to be purged ASAP. The Tories need to be out of power as long as the ERG exists and then at least another couple more decades to give them time to think of what they did to the country."

Good grief some of you clowns don't half talk a load of rot. We voted to be in the Common Market years and years ago. That was good enough but the powers that be decided, without asking the British People, to give away our sovereign powers to foriegn countries one of whom had tried to invade this island twice. Then thatcher stuck her oar in and either closed down our assets or sold them off to countries that, to be honest, we would now consider to be our enemies. Okay I will concede that the unions had an awful lot to do with that especially the miners union. But those problems could have been sorted out legally without destroying this country which is what happened and that was years before Brexit. As to say that "more brits believe the earth is flat than think Brexit is going well" well that is one of the biggest pile of dog doo that I have heard even on this, mostly, subversive forum.
