my house is built over a former peat bog..peat is still being 'farmed' on the nearby moss.. and there are still some organic smells which can come up the floor gaps etc...on some days..in the master bedroom i am going to rip out all the old built in bedroom units and throw away the carpet
i see the previous owner had removed skirtings where he fitted cupboards and wardrobes to get them against the wall
consequently there was a big gap which has been cement filled and lets the foundation smell and cold air up.
i will need to add skirting and plan to do the floor in click flooring with the usual underlay...
question is...do i need put any other medium down first on the floorboards to block the air from below
the floorboards look pretty dry, unfinished and are sound...they are around 40 years old...
should i use some sealer or floor paint...
