I was working with another guy, with whom I got on really well. We were underneath a piece of equipment, and hurling loads of abuse at each other, when the guide showing round some Royal Navy top brass came in. One of the top brass remarked that he hadn't heard abuse like that since he was on board ship

Mods, grow up.

On this occasion, I find myself in agreement, and in concert, with oilman.

So before this topic gets locked, I would like to take the opportunity to compliment oilman on his ability to keep his observations civil at all times.

And I bet he pays his car insurance and road tax an' all.

How many usernames could the guy have? ... Given the amount of posts to his name (softus) he'd need to be on here 24/7

Well the mods confirmed it in a previous thread.
Doubt we will see Softus trying to justify his deceptions..... :?:

Mod 7, (whoever you are), which rule says "No bickering" and what is your definition of bickering and how do you know our understanding is the same as yours? Since that is unlikely.

Oh do tell - which thread was that, and what was disclosed?

I hate to say this, but i suggest you read the forum rules.

some one has changed them

It gets more pathetic by the day, how did George Orwell know DIYnot would exist before the advent of the home computer and the internet?

my 2p worth.

The forum rules have to change as the forum progresses.

4 odd years ago there were no rules.
But over time people started to post spam, advertising in signatures, questionaires, hi-jack posts, then abuse started, the list goes on.

So as new "things" happen so the rules must change to acomodate them.

down side is there should be a note posted to say new rules have been added or amended.

oh, and I am still waiting for my news letter

another forum i am on (not the one I mod on) they send out infrequent emails to say this or that is changing.

perhaps admin could do one of the above?

I think the rules page now, and for the first time, documents almost precisely, the rules that the moderators apply. They are also abundantly clear, so IMHO, for these two reasons, the rules are excellent.

Does that mean that you will abide by them Softus?

Then why do you break them?
Even if I thought you were genuinely interested in the answer to that, and I don't, I would decline to answer it.
