Hi

When mortaring in 1/2 round clay ridge and hip tiles to old English clay pantiles, do you completey fill in the void under the hip/ridge tiles or just bed along the edge?

The void is quite big and some said bed in a row of bricks frist?

Bed them in, not just point them up. You can fill in with bits of broken tiles or similar. That helps to stop the mortar going down the gap between the tiles.
You can get dry-fix these days, so much quicker and easier.

Thanks for confirming that.

I did look at the dry fix system, but did not like the look of the finished results.

Which is maybe a bit daft in a way as I have gone with GRP valley and GRP soaker, which both fitted really well and look great + price was a fraction of lead.

TBH it is not going to bad, like you said makes use of all the bit of off cuts of tiles and other bits of rubble I have.
