Flexible tap connectors ........A loss adjuster on a job told me this .......loads of failures he said.

Wouldn't surprise me, mostly used for the wrong purpose (heating / plinth heaters) or poor installs with tight/kinked bends.

I would say DIY plumbing.

Very much so +1 (y)

Over flowing water storage tanks in lofts where the overflow pipe has not been jointed correctly or the pipes pulled out of fittings resulting in water through ceilings.
A good reason to turn mains water off before going on holiday :!:

Not surprised, those things are not what the people who choose taps are paying for so built down to a price. Also they're probably wedged in and moving every time the tap goes on and off.

The plinth heater I fitted a couple of days ago came with them.
Decent ones rated 10 bar 85c max. They had a good bore too

Just passing on the info from a guy. My own experiance is waste pipes leaking time and time again.

Once traced a leak on the tenth floor, missed all the other apartments apart from the first floor and it only leaked when you let the hot water run out of the bath.
The heat opened up a crack as it expanded the pipe,

Can completely relate to this after having to top up my boiler twice a day due to a leaky/burst flexible connector. All sorted now.

Still shoite, rubber promotes a sludge build up, just ask vaillant and viesmann about their rubber hoses. Not full bore so restrict flow and normally installed wrongly anyway.

85C isn't great either. It's very close to tolerance on an average working system. In a fault condition it's basically fooked. Unless you mean 10bar @85C?

Indeed, I can believe it. we have had at least 6 go at one place where I work in the 5 years since they were installed. The external braid fails, then the inner rubber inflates through the opening until it splits.

We go so fed up of the floods, that I installed a solenoid valve wired up to the entrance lights, so that when the last person leaves and the lights are turned out, the main water supply is isolated.

They are inspected regularly and there is never any sign of a problem until they actually pop! None are kinked, twisted, etc.,

Sealed system so limited leak anyway. And it wasn't clear, it just said max rating 10 bar 85c so that suggests at the same time.
Speed fit pipe, for those that use it, is only 3bar at 90 odd or 10 bar for cold water. Maybe that's why you can't connect it to the boiler.
I would say that Water is the main cause of flooding.! :p
I knew someone who lived on a boat and he said by far the most common reason for total boat loss is water leaks. He said never have a permanent water supply onto your boat.
