Motability Cars

Let's try to dial this back.

Spline posted about someone "posting photos of abuses of Motability cars", and I asked him how that person knew they were abuses.

And his reply to that ....

Happy to dial it back Himmy, but back a little bit further than this thread. A couple of nights ago you posted that muslims contributed xx billions per year to the economy. I then asked you how much do muslims take in state "benefits", to which you replied "white people are the biggest benefit claimants", which did not answer the question. (I paraphrase because I cannot remember the exact words)

That thread has been deleted; however if you deny knowledge of it you are lying.

You now ask me "how does that person know they were [motability] abuses". I have the answer ready and waiting for you but as you haven't answered my question, I won't answer yours - yet. It is wrong of you to expect me to answer your questions when you won't answer mine - you are in question debit and I am in credit. Play fair Himmy.

Pete, you're going backwards.

The scheme doesn't hand out cars.

They are exchanged for the mobility portion of PIP benefit, if that person needs a vehicle.

BUT.... it's not just a case of someone receiving PIP. It's not even a case of someone getting awarded the mobility aspect of PIP.

You have to be assessed to have more than a certain number of points in that mobility portion of PIP before you can be eligible for Motability.

Cheers mate, thats not me in the video, just a video I came across (y)

OK. How are they scamming cars out of Motability?

Given that they have to be assessed by DWP and have letters from GPs, consultants, etcetera to back them up and hit a certain number of points on the mobility side of PIP before they can be eligible for Motability.

In your experience of the few people you know, how are they managing this?

My sons friend has one through his mom she needs it but never benefits

My neighbour has one and has admitted to me he, hypes up his symptoms

Just passing on what I've been told and thats just two people I know, so god only knows how many are doing it around the country

Not PIP, or Motorbility, but being retired, with numerous health complaints, and getting worse, I put an application in to the DWP, for Attendance Allowance. The form, was little more than a ticky-box job, with little space for any real, in depth explanation, just yes, or no answers, no maybes/sometimes, plus details of meds, doctors, and consultants.

They rang me, initially suggesting that I wouldn't qualify, based upon my answers in the form, but seemed sympathetic, keen to help nudge me 'past the post', with extra questioning over the phone. During the first call, one of my panic episodes developed, and I had to end the call. The supervisor rang some days later, and his questioning, and my answers, helped get me 'past the post.'

I had been in touch with 'Help the Aged' previously, inquiring about the process, and whether I might qualify. I was warned by them, it's best to enlist their help in filling the form in, so I wouldn't under stress my health issues, but I decided to go it alone.
