if they can afford the upgrade, why can't they buy their own
True but if they are genuinely entitled to the car why not have it if it makes their life easier and then upgrade.....I would probably

Why not? Because disabled people are supposed to be given pitiful, meagre, support and to be grateful.

The idea was that disabled people find transport harder than able bodied people and so the state assists to make sure they can participate fully. That includes work, the school run, shopping and so on.

Paet of the reason it keeps growing is that we don't strip it from people who've passed pension age. Another part is that the increase in pension age has meant more people have been eligible before they hit pension age.

We should look at stripping it from people once they hit pension age.

So once a disabled person reaches retirement age you suggest taking away their ability to travel. No more shopping. No more visiting friends or family.

What a lovely person you are.

Personally I think motability should be for adapted cars like those needing wheelchairs.

What concerns me (about PIP generally not motability) is there are lots of people being awarded PIP for mental health disorders which not be needed but people with severe physical disabilities are not getting all the help they need.

maybe some people are fibbin to get the car?

Yeah - 'tis a well-known fact that to get the Higher Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance, all someone has to do is fib.

I wonder how many of the brave souls here, trying to out-do each other in performative cruelty, will have the b--s to read these.

No, apparently not, if you read the report.

Maybe it would be worth your while trying for one? You've clearly got a severe reading disability.

I've read it. You're wrong. People with ADHD or parents of people with ADHD do receive the Motability benefit.
