In general PIR switches with just a live and switched live connection wont work with low or inductive loads, as they have solid state circuits and rely on constant current flow through a lamp filament.
PIRs with a neutral connection will have a pair of contacts in them - these will be able to control a fluorescent or LED load.
Or you could interrupt its line supply by putting a switch in series with it on the supply side.
Maybe you could find a neat switch which could be flush mounted on the wall in a convenient location - single pole would do.... you could perhaps use twin & earth to go to the switch and carry the return from it....
