G ot 3 old motors to get rid of and I wondered if they have any value, either as working motors or scrap or if I should just take them to the dump.

Two work fine - smooth and quiet and no funny smells. No 3 might after replacing the perished rubber insulated wiring.

Any advice esp any help identifying them welcome.

I assume its made by hoover as a motor, ie not taken out of a washer.

Cant read the data plate very well. About 19cm long by 15cm square.

Turning by hand it feels like it would run smoothly. 20cm x 18 dia. Pretty heavy.

Car boot or ebay, maybe?
The first one sports a Stauffer screw down greaser, and the last one looks like it may have had a start capacitor originally.

Think motor scrap is about 30p/kg so not even worth it unless you can barely lift them.

I had one a few years ago that took two men to lift, didn’t bother weighing it in in the end. Would have taken too much effort for the payoff

Take the copper windings out. Last time I traded copper in, it was £3500/tonne!! £2500/tonne for brass.

Depends - the weight soon adds up, so could be a fivers worth, so whether it's worth it depends a lot on whether you have somewhere close by to take them to.

My local gave me 28p/kg a couple of weeks ago, price varies over time and between yards. Soon adds up when you've half a ton - it was "hard" parting with some good motors but they had to go :(

It was probably in the 100-150kg range, but a) it was on a roof and b) the nearest yard that isn't a rip off merchant is about 15 miles away. Worth it for cable, but I wasn't going to do a trip for the motor alone. Left it for someone else to get off the roof (y) just like the guy before me had done (tbh, it's probably still there)

I couldnt in all honesty sell it as a saw - no brake, no emergency stop, no guard, no riving knife. Its an amputation waiting to happen.
