I am thinking of getting bike again and was just wondering how efficient the engines are now. Not that it would make much of a difference to what bike I would buy but it would help convince the wife that it is a good idea if they are more efficient than my diesel clio. I would be looking at a 125cc.
If there is a website that gives details of all makes that would be great

I used to run motorbikes years ago, and as soon as I sold my last one and bought a car I wondered where all my money was going.

The only things putting me off of buying another bike are the memories of arriving at my destination cold and wet.
And with the level of traffic and the number of idiots driving today, I would be worried about becoming an organ donor!

Never mind the fuel efficiency, you should be pointing out to her that they mean you don't get caught in traffic queues, so will be home quicker to be in her arms...

And then get a 1098 :):)

The rider lived ok.. He was pizzed about losing his boots tho' !!
Not unconcious, just knackered from running a rapid 440 yds behind the semi... :D :D

I dont really like the new ducatis, give me back my Darmah SD900 anyday, not their fault mind but due to the noise regulations (some time back) the new crop sound like sewing machines compared to the hefty roar of the bikes when i was riding them, the new ones just dont seem to have the same character. Maybe they are faster but speed was never a factor for me it was the whole feel, sound and ride that counted.

Nah, after-market cans are great these days. And Termis on a Ducati sound awesome. So much so, I never wear earplugs these days, as I love the sound of them too much on mine .

But, yes, OE cans are quiet, although a fair proportion come with removable baffles. I sometimes ride my mate's VFR and it's so quiet cf my Ducati, that I can't tell what gear I'm in.

Gotta have loud pipes (watch out for Joe's input on that...)

I remember going to the garage with my first ever bike to fill it up and it cost me 49p!!!!!! I was mortified!

But yeah, the only downside about a bike is the rain and snow. Everything else about them is great. Being able to zip through the traffic and not have to sit in queues.

And now that summer's here, I miss my bike...............

Can't beat a Honda Goldwing ... But then I'm a Honda freak and so quite biased

have a look at M.C.Ns website, they carry lots of reviews on bikes and very informative.
not sure if a 125 is the best option if your going to commute with it.
revving the nuts out of them to stay in the power coupled with traffic sounds like a bit of a mare(although you didnt say thats what you wanted it for).
have a look at the 400cc inline fours.you van pick them up for peanuts .

It was all Honda's I had too (apart from one Yamaha). I LOVED my Honda 125 Trail bike. If I could've taken it to bed with me, I would have but the closest I got was the engine in the bath and I got caught by me mother!! She was not impressed in the slightest.

Trail bikes were the biz - go anywhere on 'em.

just got back from a bike ride portsmouth to, france,+ corica,+sardina+italy+ andorra, +spain on a Honda pan europeane m.p.g. 46, no jams, but no cheap fuel in euroland, took 5 ferry's all 1st class service. get yourself a bike.
