Motorised valve leaking

Is it easier - or indeed possible - to replace the seals on this valve, rather than replacing the whole valve?

The leak is on the spindle (under the circlip in the picture).

I'd guess the seal is a plain O-ring (perhaps 2). Shouldn't be difficult to source one the right size, but it would need to be of a material resistant to attack by the pipe contents.
 
Regarding drain-down. It's been leaking for a while, and now stopped. So next to no water left I should think.

Might have stopped because pressure dropped (combi / sealed system). If so, still plenty of water in the system.
