Mould in top corner of room.

Hi I have a top floor bedroom where where at the external corner of the house there is a cold spot and where mould keeps forming. See the thermal image here.

How are cavities formed around corners? Any ideas of the next step ? I don't think I can get a camera down the wall cavity that has the mould from the loft. Is it worth drilling a hole to insert a camera to investigate as I do have an endoscope ?

Apparently according to the EPC I do have cavity wall insulation but I have my doubts as the walls are cold and all have cold areas around the top (even the downstair rooms)

I would suspect that the cavity insulation doesn’t go as high as needed or if it’s blown in, perhaps it’s settled.

Doubt you’ll be able to rectify this easily.

Air your room to get rid of humid air (which condenses on cold surface).

Failing that, apply a layer of celotex or insulated plasterboard to the cold walls, but you’ll have to skim or joint and repaint.

Thanks. I managed to get a camera down the cavity of the adjacent wall. See no evidence of any insulation (up to about 30 cm) which seems slightly odd.

Wouldn't be the first time an EPC was full of sh..

Given the choice of believing it versus what I could see on a camera..

As for insulating the corner, have you crawled into the loft to see how close you can get? If no good, gaining access by removing tiles is one route, drilling holes and blowing more in is another

Thanks. May investigate with some drilling as search places like a couple of vents in the wall to see if I can find any insulation before deciding what to do.

I bought a drain camera years ago; basically a usb webcam on the end of a 20metre usb lead. Been handy for all sorts of things over the time, I think it was a tenner way back then
