Hello all,
I'm currently renovating and extending a house and one thing I'm yet to commit to is the location of the entrance to the stairs.
Currenty, it's in the corner of the living room but it would make much more sense if ithe entrance was in the hallway which is the other side of the stairs from the living room. Technically it shouldn't be too difficult to move; open up a doorway to the stairs in the hallway, angle the stairs at the bottom to the new opening and close up the existing doorway...
However, the fuseboard and electric meter in the hallway is right where the door way would be. I need a rewire anyway so that cost is accounted for, so the cost of moving the electric meter and building work relating to the stair is the main factor.
I'm aiming to sell the house on in a couple of years once my work is done so I'm weighing up the few grand it would cost to do this, or just leaving it as is.. would having the entrance to the stairs in the living room put folks of buying?
Thanks!!
Rich
