Hello,

We are considering a buying a house that needs a fair bit of improvement/modernisation.

We'd like to put an extension on the side of the house from the kitchen. A potential sticking point we have spotted is that the soil pipe from the upstairs toilet to the sewer is slap bang in the middle of the wall we would be knocking down. So..... a bit more thought and we've decided we would probably want to move the toilet anyway. At the moment the toilet is attached to the side of the house in a seperate WC. We would ideally knock through and make on large bathroom/wc. The toilet would then be attached to the back wall - approximately 10 ft from the original soil pipe exit.

So, as a complete novice, I'm wondering what would be involved in this kind of job and would it cost a fortune?

Thanks in advance.....

Moving the drain would be biggest hassle, depends on location, depth etc. Its do-able, just depends on your budget. New stack to relocated toilet is easy enough.
