I'm fitting downlighters in my bathroom and in order to comply with all the regs and to get evenly spaced light I have to replace the central light with a downlighter, the only problem is that directly above is a (notched) noggin to which the old ceiling light fitted to.

Can I just add a new noggin in the relevant position to allow enough space for firecap/clearance etc and remove the current noggin afterwards?

I cant see why not, but just wondered. This is the best answer as all the other lights are spaced out evenly.

Thanks in advance. :?:

No probs - I've just fitted 'hoods' to mine, and converted the 50w GU10 bulbs to 11w items.
I actually used B&Q plant pots at £1.50 each, and no worries about heat build up now.
John :)
