Hiya guys, hopefully a quick one for you all. I was just wondering if someone could give me a rough price / amount of work involved in moving this pipe around our boiler. We want to box in the boiler but this one pipe that sticks out makes it almost impossible. Would it be possible to make the pipe run up the side of the boiler and then for the filter to sit up above the boiler somewhere?

If so, any ideas on a rough cost for this or how much work is involved? Obviously not looking to do this one myself.

Cheers guys

No idea on cost, but may require a drain down, re-dose on the inhibitor and obviously the price of copper. It’s the return pipe which takes the magnetic filter.

More work tnan it appears, it was put there because it cant fit/be accessed behind the boiler.

Cheers for the reply both, do we think it could even just be moved a bit closer to the boiler itself?

In theory, at least in my mind, all it would need is for the top and bottom pipes coming out to be shortened (as well as what stuckinarut has mentioned). The cupboard we are looking to purchase to go around it will be a depth of 40cm so I think it would just about enclose it, maybe a bit snug but would do it.

Could the power point be re-sited, and the filter moved to the freed location, a position lower left of the boiler, pipework rerouted of course?

Luckily the power point isn't mounted at the moment and will likely not be where it currently is so yeah definitely a possibility!

That can all be re-jigged quite easily, the filter could probably go above the boiler. As suggested It will need a drain down of the main pipework - shut off all the rads to retain most of the system water.

Reposition the controller and socket away from under the boiler if possible, if there's a leak then it'll cause all sorts of problems being there and the CO detector should really be =>1m away from the boiler flue.

Brill cheers for this. Hopefully whoever I get in thinks the same as you!

The electrics etc are all temporary in place, only took out the old cupboard last week and new cupboard hopefully going in asap!
