Moving gas meter from garage to outside box

Hi, we plan to move our gas meter from our garage and thought the easiest place would be to an outside box rather than back in the house. Mainly due to less disruption/mess and also not to take up space in the house.

And can this be done by any gas fitter or do I need to contact british gas for example?

You will need to talk to your gas supplier to arrange for the meter to be moved and a registered gas engineer to do the works internally.
