is there a maximum length for the cables between the main cutout and the meter ?
i have all my mains in the corner of a bedroom (not practical for the guy to read it) i can cut a small door in the adjacent wall to alow access from the hall but this will mean the meter will be about 2ft from the cutout and at a right angle to it, i can unscrew the meter board and turn it with the meter still attached (the main cutout is on a separate board).
or must it all be visible in the same place ?
or is it possible to have the cutout moved about 3ft and turned 90deg.
any advice would be appreciated

depends on your DNO. its NOT a diy job

Most DNOs will have a limit of a few metres - which this will probably be within. However, unless they say otherwise, they will only let their approved contractors move the meter board. Contact your DNO and ask them.
