My cutout, has one of the two cover screws missing. This has been like this for eleven years, but not my doing. It was done by a bloke doing a CU change at the time who tried to see if he could move it to get the cover on the CU, which when he realised he couldn't, he had to cut a small piece out of the bottom corner of the CU cover.

What can I do really, if anything about it? It is high up and not very visible though no meter reader or anybody has even noticed it.

PS. the bloke who did the CU change decided to do the job Live instead of just pulling the fuse!!!!!

 the CU is connected to the meter, not the cutout. can you post a pic for our information and entertainment?

Inform your electricity supplier, say you have just noticed it and it must have been done before you moved in.

You don't need to work out which company maintains the cutout, just contact the company that send you your electricity bill. If you find it difficult to speak to someone sensible on the phone, send a short letter. They will have to track this and pass it along until it reaches someone who can help.

Sorry, I'm afraid I don't have a camera to take a picture with.

Yes, The CU is connected to the meter as it should be (there is now an isolator in between as well now).

Also would they check how long I lived there? since I was there before the cutout was installed in 1990.

Coming to think of it, the meter was replaced about a couple of months later, in other words the screw was not even noticed missing then!!!!
