Moving some pipework in meter cupboard

Hi,

I have an appointment to have a smartmeter fitted, but I think that my meter cupboard is too congested. Is this something that can be sorted by a local gas fitter, or are Scottish gas going to charge me a captive customer fee? If so, what might they charge?

This is some info which AI dug up for me: Gas pipes and meters must be installed at least 150mm away from electrical consumer units, fuses, distribution boards, electrical switches, or sockets.

Is there any chance that I might end up being compelled to have meters moved, for example, if they say it is so dangerous that it must be done.

The meter should fit in the same position. The issue you may have (although I was told differently) some pipework is too close to the electrical switch gear.

I would think that installation could be made to fit the standards relatively easily by a GSR engineer, depending on what's in the floor.

Yes, but probably more likely that they'll just do your smart meter and move on.
