Moving washing machines / dishwashers in-out on wooden floor

I'm thinking about putting down wooden flooring in my kitchen.

is there a simple way to move appliances like dishwashers and washing machines in and out without damaging wooden floors?

sweep the floor immaculately clean in the area required
cut a piece off hardboard machine width and double depth
apply wax spray polish to the smooth side
rough side up tip machine back slip in hardboard
stand on hardboard and manoeuver machine forward 4"
slide the machine the minimum you can as even hardboard can cause damage
