Some plastics conduct electricity by design. They tend to be used in anti-static shoes and anti-static mats for electronics work.

And black drain pipes, back waste pipe, etc all use carbon in the process to get it black so conduct really well.

What a load of bo**ocks! If those figures BS gives are right (and they probably are), then dry wood, with a resistivity of between 10^14 and 10^16 Ohm.m is up there with PVC and rubber. If I'm not mistaken, we hope those are pretty good insulators :). Even water saturated wood at around 10^3 is a staggeringly crap conductor. Metals are in the 10^-8 range - billions of times better at conducting than wood! I can only imagine the muppet who dreamt that up was considering the regularity of trees being struck by lightning or something? But that's only because there's lots of them and they conduct slightly better than the surrounding air.
