After fixing the handles/locks on 3 identical doors, I have now moved onto the front door which is solid wood (Oak).

I removed the multipoint lock to take some measurements.. But when I put it back, 3 or 4 of the screws which hold it to the door just turn.. I tried longer screws but they have clearly been stripped out.

I could just leave them as there are 6 or 7 screws which are tight... But would like to secure the lock fully

What is the best way to fix this? Fill the holes with a skewer and wood glue? Some kind of rawplug like insert?

Does anyone have any tips for this kind of issue?

If you can't source oak, then even a bit of softwood word suffice (just don't use beech as it rots quickly) - just glue it in and let the glue set first
